Abstract

This study focuses on the evaluation of the percentage of avocado (Persea americana) Hass variety grafting success using three bud stages (semi-mature, mature and dormant) under greenhouse conditions at the Tumbaco Experimental Farm of INIAP in Quito, Ecuador. The objective of this research is to determine the most appropriate bud stage to maximize grafting success and to optimize the vegetative development of the plants. The experimental design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with three replicates for each treatment. Variables such as percent lodging, plant height, stem diameter, greenness index and leaf area were measured. The results showed that the semi-mature vines had a higher percentage of lodging and superior vegetative development compared to the other vines.
