Abstract

The present research aims to demonstrate the application of the wavelet transform as an audio compression technique. Through the application of the synthetic analytical method, the bibliographic information regarding the use of transforms in signal processing and analysis is reviewed. With the use of MATLAB they allow to visualize the errors when applying the compression algorithms to an audio sample. By analyzing different signal behaviors, both the temporal frequency spectrum of the audio, as well as the voice signals, are displayed.
