Abstract

Early childhood is crucial for cognitive development, and educational robotics, such as LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 robots, provides an innovative approach to strengthening logical-mathematical reasoning in three-year-old children. This study, conducted at the Francisco Chiriboga Child Development Center in Riobamba, Ecuador, examines its effectiveness as an engaging and effective educational method to foster essential skills from an early age.

 The main objective was to evaluate the impact of using robots on the learning of geometric shapes and colors in three-year-old children. The methodology consisted of structured activities over three weeks, where children interacted with robots on learning tracks to identify specific shapes and colors. The activities were evaluated weekly using rubrics to measure the children's progress.

 The results showed a significant improvement in the children's logical reasoning, with a Pre-Test mean score of 4.44 and a Post-Test mean score of 8.52. Statistical analysis, with a p-value of 0.0043, indicated a significant difference between the scores before and after the intervention, rejecting the null hypothesis.

 In conclusion, it is demonstrated that educational robotics in early childhood significantly improves logical-mathematical reasoning. The research suggests that integrating technologies in education facilitates the acquisition of specific knowledge and fosters skills such as motor coordination, teamwork, and problem-solving. These results support the implementation of similar programs in other educational contexts to promote interactive and engaging learning from an early age.
